A little bit delayed but
here we go.
Before my search for a job
in Melbourne I made a quick trip to Indonesia and Bail. I
thought Bali was just a party island but it got so much more
to offer. Temples, beautiful architecture and nature,
good food and friendly people. One of the places I vist is Ubud. A
small town a couple of miles from the biggest city on the island,
Denpasar. Ubud is the home the home of hippis, yoga lovers and people
who just want to enjoy the laidback atmosphere with good food and a
eco friendly environment for sustainable living. From Ubud I did a
night/morning trekk on Mount Batur and the active volcano where you
can witness an amazing sunrise and enjoy the fantastic view of the
volcano in daylight. One of the highlights of my travel so far.
Everywhere
you´ll see all kind of faces and status and the most commen is
Barong, the king of the Indonesian sprirts and he
keeps bad spirits away from people's houses with his crazy
look.
During
my time in Bali I was lucky to witness a cremation
ceremony of some important person (I don´t remember who she
was). It starts with the coffin placed on a high
tower which is carried around the town along with a big black horse.
In the end they place the coffin inside the horse and burns it. It
was lots of people along the parade it was a spectacular thing to
see.
After
Ubud I took a speed boat to the Gili islands and Gili Tranwanga where I just relaxed for a couple of days and tried parasailing where
you are flying in a parachute behind a boat. Not really an adrenalin
kick but it was a nice way to get a view the islands and also a
chance to get a tiny tast of the skydive I´m planing to do back in
Australia!

Hej!
